Five finalists, having risen to the top of an original field of 32 (chosen from hundreds of applicants), over a 20-show schedule throughout Northern California, will each perform their most hilarious 15 minutes. They'll be battling for over $20K in prize money plus the glory that comes with joining alumni Dana Carvey, Louis CK, Dane Cook, Ellen DeGeneres, and Marsha Warfield, to mention merely a few past participants."In recent years, our family has been pleased to present the last night when the winner is announced in our hometown of San Rafael," advised producer Jon Fox, "Still, when we were contacted by Club Fugazi, especially considering the role North Beach played in our inception, we realized it was time to return to The City."It was only a few blocks away at the old Intersection on Union Street where Anne and Jon Fox met Frank Kidder who had a crazy idea to showcase the many talented yet unknown comedians living in the area at that time by staging a contest. Fifty years later, the annual "Laff Off" is still going strong!
